The United States Mint officially made rolls and bags of the new 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin available to the public on September 2, 2026, marking a historic addition to U.S. circulating currency to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Design and Artistic Details

The coin features distinct artwork on both sides created by United States Mint engravers:

Obverse (Heads): Designed by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna and inspired by an official White House photograph by Daniel Torok, the front depicts a portrait of President Donald J. Trump. It bears the standard inscriptions "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the dual-date inscription "1776 ~ 2026".

Reverse (Tails): Designed and sculpted by former Mint Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro, the back features the Presidential Seal displaying an eagle holding an olive branch and arrows. The seal's central shield includes the inscription "250" honoring the nation's Semiquincentennial, along with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR," and the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM".

Minted at the Philadelphia Mint with a manganese-brass circulating finish (81% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, and 2% nickel), the golden-colored coin contains no precious metals. The issuance is authorized under 31 U.S.C. § 5112(y)(1)(C) and the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 (Public Law 116-330). The legislation permits one-year redesigns of circulating $1 coins starting January 1, 2026, to celebrate America's 250th anniversary.
