ALDI Plans Major Phoenix Expansion With New Valley Stores
ALDI is expanding across metro Phoenix, with plans to open 10 new stores in the market in 2026 and reach about 40 additional Phoenix-area stores by 2030.
Phoenix, Arizona - Discount grocer ALDI is moving ahead with a major expansion in the Phoenix market as the company grows its U.S. footprint and pushes farther west.
ALDI announced that it plans to open 10 new stores in the Phoenix market in 2026, with a longer-term goal of adding about 40 new stores in the area by the end of 2030. The expansion is part of a broader national plan to open more than 180 new stores across 31 states in 2026.
The company said the growth reflects strong customer demand for its smaller-format grocery stores, private-label products and low-price shopping model.
Phoenix has become an important market for ALDI’s western expansion. The grocer entered Arizona in recent years and has steadily added stores across the Valley, including locations in communities such as Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Goodyear, Peoria, Surprise and Casa Grande.
Public local reports and development filings have pointed to additional planned or expected locations in areas including Phoenix, Mesa, Peoria, Cave Creek, Buckeye and Maricopa. ALDI has not published a full official list of every 2026 Phoenix-area opening date, so shoppers should check the company’s store locator for the latest confirmed locations and hours.
The expansion could benefit Valley residents at a time when grocery costs remain a major household concern. ALDI is known for a simplified shopping model, smaller stores, private-label products, bring-your-own-bag practices and a quarter-deposit cart system, all designed to reduce operating costs and support lower prices.
ALDI is also planning new distribution capacity to support its growth. The company said it expects to open a new distribution center in Goodyear, Arizona, projected for 2028, along with new facilities in Florida and Colorado.
For metro Phoenix, the expansion adds another major player to an already competitive grocery market that includes Fry’s, Safeway, Walmart, Costco, Trader Joe’s, Sprouts and several specialty grocers serving Asian, Latino and international communities.
For shoppers, more ALDI stores could mean additional grocery options closer to home. For the local economy, the expansion may also bring construction activity, retail jobs and renewed use of vacant big-box spaces.
As Phoenix continues to grow, grocery access remains an important part of neighborhood development. ALDI’s expansion signals that national retailers continue to see the Valley as a strong long-term market.
